Eighth Grade Goes to Washington
The second annual Washington, D.C. trip for the eighth grade class began on April 19, 2009. The week's itinerary included visits to the Pentagon Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, the National Portrait Gallery, Ford's Theater, and the Peterson House. The tour included Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Thomas Jefferson's beautiful and fascinating home, Monticello in Charlottesville.
The class also visited the National WWII Memorial where they gave a presentation in the Pacific Theatre. In a moving ceremony honoring those who had participated in the war, students displayed renderings of period events and laid a wreath at the foot of the California Pillar.
"Our eighth grade class represented Santa Catalina School with the utmost dignity," said Mrs. Linda Mutty, who along with Mrs. Lotz, Mrs. Kendall, and our parent travelers, ensured the trip went smoothly.
